Over the past month, we have been negotiating a renewal of the collective bargaining agreement with the Police Officers Labor Council who represent our patrol officers. As usual, we had a positive and productive dialogue about employment matters and reached a proposed agreement which has been approved by the union members and awaits Council consideration.
The agreement would see officers receiving the following increases over the next four years:
2020 |
2021 |
2022 |
2023
|
5% |
3% |
3% |
2.5%

I believe this is a fair settlement and keeps our pay competitive with area peer departments. The City also finds value in extending to a four year agreement. We also agreed to some other minor language changes including a provision indicating when vacation time would be approved based on the notice the employee provides to management. We also codified many language changes into this agreement we had previously made with the CWA in order to be consistent with various work rules across our bargaining and non-bargaining groups.
